Animal Cruelty around the world Not all countries view animal cruelty the same way. Some countries have stricter laws than others when it comes to animal cruelty. In the United States, every state has its own sets of laws, however they view animal cruelty as a crime and whoever commits these crimes have to be punished. This punishment can range from fines to incarceration. Even though china is the world’s second biggest economy, it lacks animal welfare legislations. 15 million animals are involved in scientific research each year. Animal welfare is a relatively new concept in many places in Asia, and people are trying to work together to give all the animals the possible protection. In South Africa there are no real protection for animals. Animals get burned alive, tied to train tracks, have their feet cut off or are even boiled alive as a gang initiation act. The gang member would only have to pay a small fine for this criminal act. Justice needs to be done and laws need to be established in South Africa.
